The Lord’s Second Coming

In Message 34 of the book of Zechariah we see that The Lord Jesus will be returning to this earth and in fact we are commanded to watch for and be constantly alert to this fact. As the world increasingly spins out of control it is important to remember what God’s Word says about our attitude. First, we must without any reservation believe that Christ will come for us as He promised. Next we look to Scripture for our direct instructions as we wait for our Lord to come for us. We have the blessed assurance that what the Bible …

“What does it mean that the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak?”

“What does it mean that the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak?” Answer: Just before His arrest, Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane, and He said to His disciples, “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41). The command came after Jesus had been praying to the Father and had found the disciples sleeping instead of praying (verses 38–40). He had admonished them to stay awake and pray with Him, but “their eyes were heavy” (verse 43), and they kept falling asleep. They …

Living by Faith

Growing in faith at times involves letting go of something, but God blesses us for obeying. Living by Faith Genesis 15:6 “And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.” Abraham is one of the people in the Old Testament who have had a great impact on my spiritual walk. In his life, I see the necessity of living by faith. Separation is oftentimes a part of our development as Christians. Before we can take on something new, the Lord may ask us to let go of something we already have. In Genesis 12:1-3, God …

BUILDING A LIFE MESSAGE

Our lives should be a powerful statement of the importance of God, the necessity of Jesus, and the power of the Holy Spirit. BUILDING A LIFE MESSAGE Matthew 5:13-16 (KJV) 13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under …

“Have faith in God.” Mark 11:22

“Have faith in God.” Mark 11:22 Faith is the foot of the soul by which it can march along the road of the commandments. Love can make the feet move more swiftly; but faith is the foot which carries the soul. Faith is the oil enabling the wheels of holy devotion and of earnest piety to move well; and without faith the wheels are taken from the chariot, and we drag heavily. With faith I can do all things; without faith I shall neither have the inclination nor the power to do anything in the service of God. If you …

HAVE YOU BEEN BAPTIZED?

ACTS 8:12 ___________________________________ “But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.” HAVE YOU BEEN BAPTIZED? The word baptism means to be immersed or submerged. The word implies a full enveloping or surrounding. The biblical purpose of water baptism is an outward display of something that has taken place internally. The verse says …”when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.” Their belief was …

UNDERSTANDING JESUS’ SACRIFICE

Jesus made a sacrifice so great for us that it’s impossible to ever fully understand it—but we must try UNDERSTANDING JESUS’ SACRIFICE Matthew 26:36-46 (KJV) 36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. 37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. 38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. 39 And he went a little farther, and …

Whom Say Ye That I Am?

By Ron and Nathele Graham “When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?” (Matthew 16:13). This was a general question, but one that would lead to a more pointed question. The disciples had seen many wondrous things He had done. They had seen miraculous healings, they had seen Him use a few fish and loaves to feed thousands of people, they had heard Jesus teach, and they had also been witness to the confrontations with the Pharisees. These twelve men had followed Jesus …
