Dr Scofield in his 1909 Reference Bible categorized the letters to the seven churches of Asia in Revelation chapters two and three as a chronological developmental exposition of a broad overview of Church history. He and the men that refreshed the notes in the Scofield Reference Bible in 1967 saw the letters as an accurate chronological depiction of the problems encountered throughout church history.
