DEALING WITH LONELINESS

Whether loneliness is a lifelong challenge or a short-term event, turning to the Lord is the way out of isolation DEALING WITH LONELINESS Psalm 102:1-7 (KJV) 102 Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee. 2 Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily. 3 For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth. 4 My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my …

God’s Only Solution

Reflections God’s Only Solution To preach the gospel, not with words of wisdom, lest the Cross of Christ should be made of no effect. (I Cor. 1:17) There is only one way to be delivered from sin: The source of sin must die. We cannot be delivered from sin by merely being forgiven FOR sin – forgiveness removes the penalty for sin. That is wonderful and essential. But forgiveness alone does not remove the sin itself. There must come a deliverance through death from what Paul calls, “the body of sin,” and, “the old man in Adam.” This was accomplished …

The Waiting Period … by Jonathan Spyer

Australian, 11/5 It is spring in Israel. On the face of it, all appears normal. Yet underlying the everyday is the hint of tension. The low buzz that presages violent events. We know it well in Israel and it has been all around for weeks. Two nights ago, there was an eruption. The special forces unit (Quds) of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps launched 20 missiles at northern Israel. Israel’s Iron Dome shot down four of them. The others landed in Syria. Israel’s Air Force launched a counter attack. Iranian storage facilities and logistics sites in Syria were targeted along …

“Only be thou strong and very courageous.” Joshua 1:7

“Only be thou strong and very courageous.” Joshua 1:7 Our God’s tender love for his servants makes him concerned for the state of their inward feelings. He desires them to be of good courage. Some esteem it a small thing for a believer to be vexed with doubts and fears, but God thinks not so. From this text it is plain that our Master would not have us entangled with fears. He would have us without carefulness, without doubt, without cowardice. Our Master does not think so lightly of our unbelief as we do. When we are desponding we are …

Pit Principles

Pit Principles   By Denise Kohlmeyer   Pits happen. Every day. To everyone. Even to God’s cherished children. Our lives’ landscapes are pock-marked with pits, of varying shapes, sizes and depths. I know! I’m a survivor of multiple pits myself. Mine came in the form of emotional abuse from a drug-addicted sibling, from flunking out of college, from being down-sized from a job I loved, from suffering a miscarriage, from being disinherited by my own father, from marital and parenting struggles, and from experiencing bouts of crippling fear and anxiety.   Boy can I relate to the beloved Biblical character …

Evidence of Spiritual Death

Reflections Evidence of Spiritual Death For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness. But unto us that are saved, it is the power of God. (I Cor. 1:18) You will note that Paul does NOT say that if a person thinks the Cross to be foolish (unnecessary or of no value — Greek) that God is going to punish them — by causing them to perish. No. Rather, he is saying that if a person thinks the Cross is foolish that it is evidence that they are ALREADY in the process of perishing. There is a …

Telling It Like It Is

Don’t underestimate your testimony’s impact—God knows how to make your story reach those who need to hear it. Telling It Like It Is Psalms 126 1 (A Song of degrees.) When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. 2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. 3 The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad. 4 Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south. 5 They …

What shall we do?” 16 So he answered, Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 17 Then Elisha prayed and said, O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” And …
