BUT WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN GOD’S GRACE
“In whom [the Lord Jesus Christ] we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;” (Ephesians 1:7 KJV). We, the sinful human race, are worthy of our holy Creator God’s wrath. God has created a special place, hell, for Satan and those who follow his sinful rebellion against God (Matthew 25:41). The simple truth is that, because of our sinful nature (and the resulting sinful actions), we all deserve to go to hell, and ultimately, separated from God forever in the lake of fire (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9; Revelation 20:14,15; Revelation 21:8; et …
Question 34: Once saved, are we always saved?
Answer: We should keep in mind that salvation is strictly by grace alone through faith alone in the Messiah alone. Just as you cannot be saved by works, you cannot lose your salvation by works either. If it is possible to lose salvation on the basis of works, then salvation was on the basis of works to begin with, which contradicts all Scripture. Upon salvation, one is regenerated. This means the believer receives eternal life at the moment he comes to faith. The Bible does not teach that we receive eternal life once we die as believers, but we already have …
“Whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting” Micah 5:2
The Lord Jesus had goings forth for his people as their representative before the throne, long before they appeared upon the stage of time. It was “from everlasting” that he signed the compact with his Father, that he would pay blood for blood, suffering for suffering, agony for agony, and death for death, in the behalf of his people; it was “from everlasting” that he gave himself up without a murmuring word. That from the crown of his head to the sole of his foot he might sweat great drops of blood, that he might be spit upon, pierced, mocked, …
THE CROSS: SYMBOL OF SUPREME LOVE
When we consider all that Jesus endured on the cross for our sake, we realize that no greater love exists. John 10:18 (KJV)18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. Many people wear a cross because it symbolizes the Christian faith. But few fully grasp the depth of love that it represents. The cross stands for what is arguably history’s most painful method of execution. Crucifixion usually began with two soldiers …
In Luke 2:40 we read “And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.”
In Luke 2:40 we read “And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.” In this one verse, Luke summarised Jesus’ development from the age of four to the age of twelve. Although Jesus was brought up in a spiritual Jewish home, this alone […]
Parable Of The Sower
By Grant Phillips The Parable of the Sower is found in Matthew 13:3-23; Mark 4:1-20 and Luke 8:4-15. I will be using the Matthew account. At this point in our Lord’s ministry He began speaking to the people in parables. Have you ever wondered why? The disciples did. At first He was speaking plainly, and then all of a sudden He starts speaking in parables. Beginning at verse ten we read,“And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” Jesus responded by saying, “… To you it has been granted to know the …
A Debt Paid in Full
God the Father sent His Son Jesus to shed His blood on the cross in payment for the sin debt we owed Colossians 2:13-1413 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Mankind has a debt problem. In the physical world, our desire for a higher standard of living and more …
DEATH…PRECIOUS?
PSALM 116:15_________________________________________“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints .” How can death be a consolation of a welcomed experience? Death is man’s most feared and dreaded enemy. I once knew a person who feared death so much that he would not drive down a street where there was a cemetery for fear that death would visit him sooner. The world has good reason to be tortured by the thought of death. Non-Christians are petrified of death because they must yield to its relentless advances. Yet, how then can death be precious to the Christian? …
If Mary was sinless, why was she unclean and had to offer a sacrifice for sin?
by Matt Slick Roman Catholics teach that Mary never sinned. But, if that is the case, why did she need to offer an atonement according to Old Testament Law (Lev. 12:1-8) after giving birth to Jesus? According to the Old Testament, it was only the mother who needed purifying after a birth because of the […]
