Redemption

Reflections   Redemption is the restoration of all things under God – central to which is the restoration of MAN back to God. God finished this restoration in and through His Son, Jesus Christ.   The way back to God is not by adopting a body of teaching. It is not by finding a religion with which I can be comfortable. It is not by finding the right spiritual guru and submitting myself to him. The only way back to God is through THE WAY – Jesus Christ. I am restored back to God only if Jesus Christ makes Himself …

“And God saw the light.” Genesis 1:4

This morning we noticed the goodness of the light, and the Lord’s dividing it from the darkness, we now note the special eye which the Lord had for the light. “God saw the light”–he looked at it with complacency, gazed upon it with pleasure, saw that it “was good.” If the Lord has given you light, dear reader, he looks on that light with peculiar interest; for not only is it dear to him as his own handiwork, but because it is like himself, for “He is light.” Pleasant it is to the believer to know that God’s eye is …

When It’s Wise to Wait

Psalm 130 130 Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Jehovah. 2 Lord, hear my voice: Let thine ears be attentive To the voice of my supplications. 3 If thou, Jehovah, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? 4 But there is forgiveness with thee, That thou mayest be feared. 5 I wait for Jehovah, my soul doth wait, And in his word do I hope. 6 My soul waiteth for the Lord More than watchmen wait for the morning; Yea, more than watchmen for the morning. 7 O Israel, hope in Jehovah; For with …

Question of the Day: Q. I believe your teaching that Jesus’ payment for my sins covers all of my sins from birth to death. Why do some teachers teach that the Lord’s death only covers one’s past sins, and we are personally responsible for our future ones?

Question of the Day: Q. I believe your teaching that Jesus’ payment for my sins covers all of my sins from birth to death. Why do some teachers teach that the Lord’s death only covers one’s past sins, and we are personally responsible for our future ones?   A. People who teach that only our pre-salvation sins are covered don’t fully comprehend what happened at the cross. The Bible says His death was a once-for-all-time sacrifice for sin that has made perfect forever those who are being made Holy (Hebrews 10:12-14). “Once-for-all-time” means His death covered every sin from the …

Works cannot save us; God’s grace is a free gift that must be received by faith.

Romans 5:1-6 5 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. 6 For when we were yet without strength, in …

Crucified WITH Christ

Reflections Paul, the apostle certainly knew that Jesus Christ was crucified FOR him. The fact that Jesus died FOR us – tasted death for every person – is an absolute fact and the foundation of the redemption. But it is precisely because Christ died FOR us that Paul was able to make this statement: I am crucified WITH Christ. (Gal. 2:20) If Jesus merely died FOR us, then we could be legally forgiven. But our old man in Adam would not be crucified in Him. The body of sin would not be destroyed. (Rom. 6:6) That means we would remain …

Shaping Eternity

How many times have I said that “our eternity is shaped in time”. Not only our eternity but even the eternity of some that cross our paths in life (time). As Christians we should be impacting others as we walk the path that Almighty God has set before us. We need to be reflecting Jesus as we live in these end times. We should stand out in these darkening time in which we live. So how do we shape our eternity … well how do people shape their lives on planet earth. They invest into their lives for the future. …

“Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 3:18

“Grow in grace”–not in one grace only, but in all grace. Grow in that root-grace, faith. Believe the promises more firmly than you have done. Let faith increase in fulness, constancy, simplicity. Grow also in love. Ask that your love may become extended, more intense, more practical, influencing every thought, word, and deed. Grow likewise in humility. Seek to lie very low, and know more of your own nothingness. As you grow downward in humility, seek also to grow upward–having nearer approaches to God in prayer and more intimate fellowship with Jesus. May God the Holy Spirit enable you to “grow …

Jesus Personally Ratified the Abrahamic Covenant

The Covenant Keeper It is in Genesis 15 where the all-important Abrahamic Covenant is ratified.  Back in Genesis 12 the provisions of the covenant are given, including that the Lord would make Abram a great nation (vv. 1–3).  But by the beginning of chapter 15, Abram was yet to sire an heir even though he and his wife Sarai were old.  Abram voiced his concern to the Lord, and the Lord responded by promising him as many descendants as there are stars in the heavens (v. 5).  Abram’s response changed everything: Then he believed in the Lord; and He reckoned it …

The First of Our Second Chances

Because God’s grace is immeasurably greater than our sin, He sent His Son Jesus to be our second chance Romans 3:10-18 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. 13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: 14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: 15 Their feet are swift to shed blood: 16 Destruction and misery …
