The Carpenter’s Son

by

Reflections The Carpenter’s Son And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, “Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?” (Matt. 13:54-56) Accounts like this one tell us that for the first 30 years of His life, Jesus maintained a low profile – He did …

Christ’s View of His Servants

by

“The least and lowest of believers will find that he is counted among Christ’s servants, and that his labor has not been in vain in the Lord. He will discover to his amazement, that his Master’s eye saw more beauty in his efforts to please Him, than he ever saw himself. He will find that every hour spent in Christ’s service, and every word spoken on Christ’s behalf, has been written in a book of remembrance. Let believers remember these things and take courage. The cross may be heavy now, but the glorious reward shall make amends for all.” ~ …

105 – The Messianic Living River

by

Ezekiel left the outer courtyard seeing the four enclosures which were described in the last chapter. Now he is brought back into the inner courtyard to stand next to the Temple proper. The Angel of Jehovah, our Lord Jesus begins to show Ezekiel the small trickle of water that will emanate from under the threshold of the Holy Place in the Messianic Temple. The water is barely a trickle coming out of the south side of the Temple building near the center of the eastern wall under the floor. Then he watches as the water moves to the right and …

Understanding Your Call

Mark 8:34-35 34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it. I like to use the word believer when talking about God’s children, as it specifically refers to those who have trusted Jesus Christ as Savior. That is a much smaller population than those who label themselves …

Job 19:1–29 19 Then Job answered and said, 2 How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words? 3 These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me. 4 And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself. 5 If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach: 6 Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net. 7 Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry …

Godly sorrow worketh repentance.” 2 Corinthians 7:10

by

Genuine, spiritual mourning for sin is the work of the Spirit of God. Repentance is too choice a flower to grow in nature’s garden. Pearls grow naturally in oysters, but penitence never shows itself in sinners except divine grace works it in them. If thou hast one particle of real hatred for sin, God must have given it thee, for human nature’s thorns never produced a single fig. “That which is born of the flesh is flesh.” True repentance has a distinct reference to the Saviour. When we repent of sin, we must have one eye upon sin and another …

Faith Barriers

Exodus 3:10-22, Exodus 4:1-17 God enables us to carry out His plan for our life. When we fall short of accomplishing the goals He has set for us, it is not because He in some way failed to provide the necessary equipping. Instead, failure is usually the result of an obstacle within our heart—an attitude that short-circuits our faith. As a result, the flow of God’s power is hindered, and we cannot become the person He desires us to be. Moses is a dramatic illustration of the disruptive potential of faith barriers. Called to one of the greatest missions in …

Job 17 Job Continues to Defend His Innocence 17 “My spirit is crushed, and my life is nearly snuffed out. The grave is ready to receive me. 2 I am surrounded by mockers. I watch how bitterly they taunt me. 3 “You must defend my innocence, O God, since no one else will stand up for me. 4 You have closed their minds to understanding, but do not let them triumph. 5 They betray their friends for their own advantage, so let their children faint with hunger. 6 “God has made a mockery of me among the people; they …
