The Seven Deadly Sins – by Jack Kinsella

In the Book of Proverbs, God lays out a list before us of what are often called the “Seven Deadly Sins.” They earned that nickname, not because those sins will cause a believer to lose his salvation, but because they are the most destructive sins to a believer’s spiritual progress before the Lord. “These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and …

Light Is Come

Reflections Any gospel that does not tell the Truth about the lost condition of man, and his need to be saved from it, is a false gospel. Any gospel that denies the sin nature denies the need for the Cross. John wrote: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the Truth is not in us.” (I John 1:8) The Truth will expose our lost condition. God exposes the Truth about us so that we might see the Truth about HIM – that He is our only Savior. God is redemptive God and all that He does …

“Guilty”

Romans 1:16-17

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

“Guilty”

When did it become breaking a rule
To say your name out loud in school
When your name’s the only one that sets us free?
When did it become incorrect
To speak the truth about life and death
When your life gave us all eternity?

Even if it gets me convicted
I’ll be on my knees with my hands lifted

If serving you’s against the law of man
If living out my faith in you is banned
Then I’ll stand right before the jury

If saying “I believe” is out of line
If I’m judged ’cause I’m gonna give my life
To show the world the love that fills me
Then I wanna be guilty

I’ll rise up and honor you
I’ll testify to the good you do
‘Cause your grace and your mercy have overtaken me

So even if it gets me convicted
I’ll be on my knees with my hands lifted

If serving you’s against the law of man
If living out my faith in you is banned
Then I’ll stand right before the jury

If saying “I believe” is out of line
If I’m judged ’cause I’m gonna give my life
To show the world the love that fills me

Then I wanna be guilty by association
Guilty of being a voice proclaiming
Your ways, your truth, your life
I’ll pay the price to be your light

If serving you’s against the law of man
If living out my faith in you is banned
Then I’ll stand right before the jury

If saying “I believe” is out of line
If I’m judged ’cause I’m gonna give my life
To show the world the love that fills me

Then I wanna be guilty by association
Guilty of being a voice proclaiming
Your ways, your truth, your life
I’ll pay the price to be your light

Oh, I wanna be guilty

Isaac And Ishmael, An Allegory

Isaac And Ishmael, An Allegory For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. His son by the slave woman was born in the ordinary way; but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a promise. (Galatians 4:22-23) Now you, brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise. At that time the son born in the ordinary way persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now. But what does the Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave …

In the account in Mark 14:72, of Peter’s reaction to his denial of Jesus

In the account in Mark 14:72, of Peter’s reaction to his denial of Jesus, it tells of his going out and weeping bitterly. I wondered why, at the core, he was doing that. Was it because he was exposed as the fraud he really was? Was he disappointed that the brave warrior he envisioned himself to be had crashed and burned? Was it because the One who knew everything about him, loved him with an unfailing love? I am thinking that it must have been for all of these reasons. In Peter’s ongoing revelation of the Christ, over the period …

Moving Mountains

Mark 11:20-26 20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. 21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. 22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever …

“For me to live is Christ.” Philippians 1:21

The believer did not always live to Christ. He began to do so when God the Holy Spirit convinced him of sin, and when by grace he was brought to see the dying Saviour making a propitiation for his guilt. From the moment of the new and celestial birth the man begins to live to Christ. Jesus is to believers the one pearl of great price, for whom we are willing to part with all that we have. He has so completely won our love, that it beats alone for him; to his glory we would live, and in defence …
