When God is Silent

By David A. DePra One of the most difficult seasons in the life of a Christian is when God seems SILENT. And the fact is, those seasons when God seems silent are usually when we think we need Him to speak the most. God is usually silent to us when we are in a trial. Indeed, I have found that the silence of God, and my inability to understand Him can, in itself, become a greater trial than any circumstances. Actually, what I am describing is THE TRIAL OF FAITH. A trial of faith, when everything is said and done, …

Putin just made a major change to Russian law enforcement

Russian President Vladimir Putin has just carried out a major reshuffling of the country’s law enforcement in attempts to take an even stronger grasp of the country, the Financial Times reports. In a sudden reshuffle, Putin has dismissed eight senior law enforcement officials while promoting 12 others who are viewed as Putin loyalists. The reshuffle was first announced on the presidential website on Saturday as an official decree. Among those promoted in the reshuffle, the FT notes, are Alexei Kudrin, who has been a longtime Putin confidant, as well as Igor Krasnov, an investigator into the death of opposition …

18 The Sufficiency of Christ Part 1

Christ’s sufficiency It is very import that we realize the importance of this doctrine. If we have a godly perspective on life and have eternity as our goal the things both good and bad in this life must be viewed as transitory and just short lived. By trusting in God for all our needs and remedies we will develop the genuine contentment the Bible teaches. This is not a natural fleshly response to our interaction with life’s incidents and conditions. It is learned through drawing on the Spirit for comfort and guidance. Remember that one of the Fruits of the …

The Choice

Jack Kinsella   The question has been asked so many times that has morphed from a question into a challenge; “How can a merciful and loving God condemn people to eternal torments in hell?” The question is not just posed by atheists and skeptics, but also by some sincere, but woefully uneducated Christians.  The argument has some merit on the surface.  God is love. All men are created with a sin nature. Since, by definition and design, all men are sinners and our Creator God is love, it logically follows that a loving God who created sinners would be unjust …

The First Sermon

Reflections   Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God has made that same Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ. (Acts 2:36) The first sermon given through the indwelling of Jesus Christ via the Spirit of God was given by Peter in Acts 2. And if you read that sermon, it is indeed all about Jesus Christ. But some like to point to what they think happened on that day as a justification for some things that are going on today – people acting drunk, etc. – but Peter quickly gathers all that was …

TROUBLED? TRY PRAISE!

Psalm 34 34 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. 3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together. 4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. 5 They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed. 6 This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, And saved him out of all his …

By His Matchless Grace are We Saved

OUR SALVATION IS STRICTLY GIVEN BY THE GRACE OF GOD Ephesians 2: 1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Unregenerate people are dead spiritually and therefore like the physically dead are unable to communicate with the living God. The spiritually living are those who have been born again and are connected to God. They have been made alive by believing the gospel and receiving the Holy Spirit. Interestingly God says, “You will seek Me and find Me when ye shall search for me with all your heart” (Deuteronomy 4:29; Jeremiah 29:13; Psalm 14:2; Isaiah …

5 minute Bible Book Overviews

Our ambition is to give people a broad overview of every New Testament book before the student gets bogged down in myopic details. Our goal in creating these video summaries was originally for children in Sunday school at our church to be given a brief overview of every book of the Bible. We have a heart for these children because, with few exceptions, they really are not learning the Word of God elsewhere. We believe that the only real hope for the future of our nation is for the next generation to understand God’s Word. In the process of creating …

A View of Life after the Rapture

by Pete Garcia If we were to look back over the past 100 years, we could certainly point out some very painful and tragic moments in our nation’s history.  Hurricane Katrina, 9/11, Columbine, and Pearl Harbor all certainly had an impact on our national psyche, and we as a nation grieved with those affected.  But unless you were directly impacted, you went back to work or school.  You moved on because life moved on. While I can only speak to the global effects of the Rapture in general terms, I intend to put the spotlight solely on the United States …

The Mystery of God

Reflections   The mystery which has been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints — to whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. (Col. 1:26-27) In NT times, a, “mystery,” was exactly what Paul describes here: A Truth previously hidden, but which is NOW revealed. According to Paul, the great mystery of previous ages and generations, which was THEN being revealed was, “CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory.” Paul directly states that …
